Sometimes I think about what the world would be like if instead of becoming religion-crazed lunatics, all these young men had stayed home, doing farming or carpentry or opening a shop or any normal kind of job, or gone to school to become professionals, and started healthy happy families, enjoying music and dancing and the arts. What a wonderful world it would be. As it is, they don't seem to have anything in the way of what I would call humanity. The only thing they seem to have which gives them meaning is their "enemy". What a terrible way to live.

Pretty much what I expressed in a previous Newsletter Post. Totally agreed. Imagine how many funerals we would have been and will be spared.

Imagine what could have been done with that money. Gaza could have been the Riveria of the area. They have an incredible beach. I was on it a few times. It is beautiful. Imagine all the people the money spent to build that tunnel could feed. Imagine all the hospital supplies it could purchase. Imagine how many homes it could have created.

Imagine, if you will, how much better we all would have been if Hamas never existed.

Instead, they steal that money and build tunnels to kill people.

I was thinking about the 2 world wars, and how once they were over there was rebuilding, and people moved forward as best they could, and now neighboring countries work & trade together. While I'm sure there were people who would have liked revenge on a personal level, or who harbored resentment and even hatred, they chose peace. I wonder if such a thing is possible with these current conflicts - despite the wars, European nations have a great deal in common and they understand the world in a similar way, with similar basic values, but that's not the case with the Islamists. It seems to me the best thing would be for Islam to have its own Reformation, like Christianity did (which was of course terribly violent), but I don't know enough to have any idea of how this plays out in the long run.

I think you are way into the dreaming stage. I certainly have nothing against Islam. I do have a problem with the "fundamentalist Islamic" philosophy. I agree that some Islamic countries are quietly having their own reformation. While others, are going off the deep end. Don't know if a reformation would ever be possible with this current environment.

One needs to "get" into their headspace. And from what I have seen on here, and elsewhere, very few understand how a radical or fundemental Islamist thinks and acts.

Yes, I'm just talking about the fundamentalists. I don't believe I can understand how they think, it's too far outside of the reach of my imagination. From where I sit much of the behaviour we see looks like severe mental illness, but of course to them they are perfectly rational.

Israel needs to stop provoking a war with Iran, which is a Shia power and therefore is not a supporter of Hamas.

The US will not run in to fight another Zionist caused war in the Middle East. It won't happen. If the IDF picks a fight with the Iranian military, it's going to fight alone.

Get that through your heads.

Where's Thomas Jefferson when you need him. (See his history on the jihadi problem.)
