Great article Ted! Tolkien definitely knew what he was doing by contrasting Faramir with his far more bellicose brother Boromir and their very different fates. Faramir's primary concern is the preservation of his people and while Boromir shares this drive he is also seduced by his own prospects of glory, resulting in his own downfall. Israel's cause is moral, they are prosecuting the war as morally as they possibly can against an enemy that makes a mockery of the very notion of morality. The UN has many dirty secrets and much to be ashamed of. Were it my decision, I'd evict them from NYC and cut all funding. It was a good idea, but like the League of Nations it has proven to be corrupt and ineffective (to say the least).
Thank you. I had to resist telling the LOTR story, as it would have taken way too much time and too long. But remember, Boromir was under the influence of the ring, and that coupled with his personality forced his hand. But in the end, he too died with honor, defending that which he truly loved.
The UN is corrupt - has been for decades. Like I said, I dismissed the idea of an UNRWA article at first. Who the hell wants to deal with those idiots? But then the story broke.
I am just hoping they do the same to the IRC - that I will take great glee in.
I have heard so many renditions of who and what Tolkien really was over the years. I really have no clue. I know his writing is freaking incredible. Even from a just a literary standpoint, let alone his ability to create worlds.
As to the UN. The whole story is I just thought writing about them was a waste of time. Everyone in Israel knows exactly what the UN really is. But for some reason the community I know in NYC and elsewhere has this UNRWA thing stuck in their minds. When the story broke, it was an opportunity to write about it. No one has to convince me that the UN and the IRC are useless and should be defunded and disolved. And as I wrote. Mark my words. Sooner or later, the same sort of stuff will be coming out about the IRC.

Great reporting. The UN investigating the UN is like China investigating the Wuhan Lab.
BTW, wasn't Tolkien an anti semite? Maybe I'm wrong. Ah well. So many great authors were/are.

Yup.
Sad that it took Oct 7 to expose these well funded groups.
