I agreed with your first post on the matter and I haven't changed my mind.
Even though I am an elderly reader who can't afford to be a paying one. I do contribute small donations to causes of interest and as a matter of principle I think PayPal makes sense.
I tried the system now being used once, and it doesn't make sense to me. I had to reverse my participation because it didn't seem to work well, not easy and seamless. Let's hope Substack will switch to PayPal... Soon!
(I Reposted this to correct a typo but it was written before the above comment.)
Ok, it makes sense sorry for the misunderstanding. I guess yes people should have a choice even though I think PayPal is better. I do not have enough knowledge about what what Mr. Cory is referring to. I will read about it Even though it sounds a bit too extreme for me.
While I respect your views, though certainly do not agree with them, that still does not answer the problem. Additionally by that logic, Stripe and every single payment gateway is the same thing. So are banks and so is crypto. Your statement makes no sense in the context of the article. If you have something against the "social credit system" then far it be it from me to tell you how to respond to it. But please do not imply that others who make extensive use of PayPal and other gateways should cancel our ability to support ourselves.
Additionally, based upon your remark, I do hope you do not order from Amazon, Etsy or any other system as well.
1) "by that logic" -- No, not by "that logic." Banks and crypto have not even floated the idea of fining users for "misinformation." I think any institution that even considers this is too corrupt to trust with my money.
2) "If you have something against the 'social credit system' " implies to me that either you don't know what that means, or you do and you think it's fine. Either way.
10 Stars to PayPal for doing that. I mentioned that is my article. Amazon not only uses your credit card. :You obviously need a lesson in tech today. Amazon has a complete and I do mean complete profile on you. Not only your buying habits, but your credit rating, history and browser history. What universe do you live in?

I did not imply "switch to PayPal" - I just want them to add it as a possible payment gateway for authors.

PayPal is an instrument of the Deep State's social credit system. I canceled my account with them long ago.

Just saying :)
So many inaccuracies in here; where do I start?

3) "I do hope you do not order from Amazon" Amazon uses my credit card. If I wanted to use a temporary one from privacy.com, I could do that.

I have a policy on social networks: one reply only to non-serious people and trolls. Then they get Muted and Blocked. So you're done.
