I am writing this now, as my next piece, scheduled for tomorrow, is draining and taking more time than I thought it would..
But Pink - well she needs to get credit where credit is due. And for once my instincts did not fail me. And one thing I have not lost. That is the ability to know when to say thank you to those who deserve it.
My kids know, my friends know, even my clients know I am a fan of Pink. I love her music and I think some of her lyrics are genius. I get laughed at. An old man who is a fan of Pink! My grandchildren look at me like I am nuts. Pink for them is so “yesterday's news.” Hah! She is a Princess! To be sure, I like Rachel Platten, Katy Perry, Taylor Momsen, some of Lady Gaga, and 4-Non Blondes as well. That should tell you a bit of my taste.
I am, and always have been a music freak. So my playlist goes from decade to decade. Let me be absolutely clear though. Janis Joplin was and will always be the Queen.
So you think maybe this guy is faking it? Right. So how many of you out there can say they were at Woodstock and their Father took them as close as he could possibly get? How many of you can say they actually knew the “Yasgur” and his family, who is mentioned in the Crosby, Still, Nash & Young song, “Carry On”?
"I'm going down to Yasgur's Farm, Gonna join in a rock 'n' roll band”
How many of you can say they saw Janis (at Woodstock); Richie Haven & Jimi Hendrix at the Peace Conference in Madison Square Garden in 1969; the Who perform the entire rock opera “Tommy” and then bust their guitars at the end at the Fillmore East; Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick at the same venue; Peter Paul & Mary in Carnegie Hall; and then Simon & Garfunkle in Carnegie Hall perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water”?
Do my music creds give me the right to talk?
So why am I discussing Music and Pink in this newsletter on Israel and a war? Wait for it, just wait for it. I have not yet lost all my marbles.

Then there is another Pink. Roger Waters from PinkFloyd is a rabid antisemite and always has been. Why? Who knows? Maybe Mommy and Daddy hit him too much. Maybe he has “issues.” Maybe he never had enough love. Who knows? and honestly, who cares?
I always hated Pink Floyd and their music. Never liked them, never played them, and never bought their music. All my friends dissed them as well. And this was way before Waters came out like Hitler in Mein Kampf against the Jews and Israel.
You can find his antisemitic rhetoric all over. I don’t need to put it up here. Still, here are two fine examples of this hypocritical, over-indulged dumb-ass.
So Waters needs to make money. His shade of Pink is dark, horrid, full of rage and hate. Just listen to it.
And then comes Pink who speaks out against all injustice. All hate. All prejudice. It is people like Pink that allow me to hold on to my faith in humanity.
Here is what Pink, the woman of light, posted:
Read that carefully. Pink has a huge following. In the millions on Social Media. It takes great big hefty balls to put that out on Instagram. It takes courage beyond measure. It takes a moral compass that 99% of humanity is lacking.
So I am taking a couple of hours to give Pink her due (and admittedly for the first time in a month listening to her music as it calms my soul). And if she or someone in her entourage ever sees this piece, the lyrics to “Barbie” - well they are wonderful. Worthy of Harry Chapin, and that is a huge compliment coming from an old man.
