Seeking a Co-Editor For "The View From Israel"
"The View From Israel" is looking for "a writer of editorial and news content in English" with your own byline.
"The View From Israel" is a new enterprise to bring news from Israel and around the world in English via various mediums. Newsletters, podcasts, YouTube, and all social media. It is a huge task that began two weeks ago and already has a decent following. The first stage is the free newsletter, which comes out once a day from Substack.
I have to be clear that at this early stage, there are no salaries and no perks. But I do intend to get there, as there are other projects in the pipeline.
The goal of “The View From Israel” is to produce a newsletter a day at the very least. One person, no matter how great they are at writing, cannot do this, as a great deal of research and thought has to go into every piece.
What I am looking for at the moment:
Someone who can be a co-editor and writer for the Substack newsletter. You get your own byline and credit for the articles you produce.
Qualifications:
You know how to write well in English, especially on topics important to The View From Israel. These are the war in Israel, World Jewry, the international reactions to the war, and Israel - well you should get the picture by now. (You need to have some sort of writing or content portfolio, which can be seen.)
You have a strong opinion that you can express in writing. BUT no inner-Israeli politics at the moment.
You, for whatever reason, have the time to devote. This is time-intensive work with research and writing.
You understand the need for original content. ChatGPT is great, but we do not need opinion pieces created by AI.
You are committed and will not disappear into the universe in a week or two. This is critical. If you are not dedicated to this, it will not work.
Preferably, you understand technology, social networks, and what drives them.
You can bring your own voice into the newsletter, and if things move forward, it will become a full-time job with a title and perks to match. But I cannot promise anything at the moment.
You are not afraid to write about controversial topics, even if their subject disturbs those you are close with.
It does not matter where. you live as long as you are aware of what is going on in Israel and are immersed in its culture and mindset these days. Remember, Israel after October 7, is not the same country it was before October 7. Indeed, someone who understands these goals and lives in the US or Europe is just as valuable to have on staff.
This is an ambitious project. I know as I have started quite a few successful tech projects over the years from nothing. However, there is a niche for this, and I think “The View From Israel” can fill that niche if done correctly. The goal is simple. To not be silent and continuously and constantly share with the world what needs to be shared about Israel and Jewish communities around the world. And do it forcefully.
This is the first position I am trying to fill, as it is the most needed and can lead to a great deal more.
Again, this position has no salary attached. I need to be clear about this so there are no misconceptions. However, it depends on the success of this project, which goes far beyond a newsletter.
If you are interested or know someone else who is interested (pass this on) please just contact me viewfromisrael@gmail.com or send me a DM here, and we will take it from there.
And if you are just reading this, but have no interest in the work, pass this on to someone who may be interested. It would be great and very much appreciated if you would head over to the link and subscribe to the newsletter. Remember it is free.
Thank you all.
