Blowing In The Wind
How Many Deaths Will It Take 'Til He Knows That Too Many People Have Died?
If it is not right, do not do it. If it is not true, do not say it.
That quote comes from the amazing work “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius. If you have not read at least some of this work, put it on your “must-read” list.
I can only wonder how politicians understand: “If it is not right, do not do it. If it is not true, do not say it.” It would be incredibly interesting to get into their heads and figure it out. On second thought, the last thing I want to do in the world is get into a politician's head.
Municipal Elections In Israel
So, let us first move to the Municipal Elections in Israel that took place yesterday.
This time, for the first time in my life, I did not vote. I actually did not care. The whole thing seemed a farce to me when one has to worry about hostages, war, funerals, paying shiva calls, and just plain stress.
It seems I was not alone. As the Jerusalem Post Reported:
Israel municipal elections: Polls close amid extremely low turnout
Polls closed at 10:00 p.m. and results were due only after press time. However, according to an update by the Interior Ministry unit responsible for the election, by 10:00 p.m. approximately 3.5 million Israelis, or 49% of eligible voters, had cast their votes – compared to 56% at the same time in the peacetime municipal elections in 2018.
The left paper, Haaretz, is well respected and read by many, though no one will admit it. It is like reading the NYT religiously every day but not admitting it. This was Haaretz's take on the elections.
Israel's Local Elections: Ultra-Orthodox, Far Right Make Gains Across Country
Ultra-Orthodox and far-right Religious Zionist parties are headed for a sweeping victory in Jerusalem, while the southern city of Mitzpeh Ramon will have a Likud mayor known for his far-right views. Tel Aviv and Haifa remain liberal strongholds
I have news for you. No one won. Everyone has lost. Israel’s obsession with politics can only be compared to the obsession in the United States over the Biden-Trump War. While the politicians argue, debate, and make promises they cannot nor would ever try to keep, people are dying.
Hostages are wasting away. Hamas and Qatar are figuring out how to rearm. And here we are running to the polls - for the same-old, same-old Yadda, Yadda, Yadda.
No, thank you. All the quotes and speeches in the world on democracy, the right to vote, and freedom will not sway me this time. It is simply “blowing in the wind.” And you know what? Most people agree. And you know why? Because it was superfluous. It was not a national election for the Prime Minister. That I will heartily agree is important. But to go and vote for some two-bit politician so they can now supposedly change something when an entire country is gripped by war? Don’t think so.
And yes, I know that this is critical to a true democracy. And yes, I know we need new leaders and blood. And yes, I know how important it is to be able to vote and express your own opinion. And yes, I know that I am totally wrong, and I will get hell for revealing this.
So who won? Left, Center, or Right? Ask me if I care?
There is a time for war
There is a time for peace
There is a time to go to the polls and vote
And the time for voting is certainly not now!
Biden’s Truth Meter Is Not Calibrated
I honestly cannot say anymore if Biden is forgetful, just too old for the job, has progressive dementia or Parkinson’s Disease, or is just getting horrible advice from his advisors. One or any combination of the above would be acceptable.
According to all the networks and news, here is what he has been doing and saying. This is from CNN.
Officials from Israel, Hamas and Qatar have cautioned against US President Joe Biden’s optimism that a hostage-for-ceasefire deal in Gaza could be reached by the end of this week, suggesting that differences remain as negotiators work to secure an agreement.
Biden said Monday during an appearance at an ice cream shop in New York City that he hoped there would be a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict by “next Monday,” as the death toll in Gaza approaches 30,000.
But an Israeli official told CNN Tuesday that Israel was “surprised that he [Biden] used the word Monday and that he used the word ceasefire.”
“I don’t know on what basis he said it,” the Israeli official said Tuesday, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the subject. The official said Israel was ready to make a deal under the right terms.
“Israel will be ready to release [Palestinian] prisoners even today if conditions are met,” the official said.
Basem Naim, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, told CNN Tuesday that the group was unaware of any ceasefire agreement that could be brokered by next Monday. “There is nothing,” Naim said.
So let us understand this. Michigan, a state which lays claim to Rashid Tlaib, became pivotal to Biden’s reelection. Suddenly, Biden is making statements about a non-existent ceasefire. And then he bemoans how Trump is spreading “fake news.” And now I am supposed to accept all of this as truth? No one seems to know where Biden pulled that out of hat.
It is pitiful. Honestly, it's pitiful watching Biden trying against nature to make his mind and body react normally.
Everyone complains that Bibi has been in office for too long. They hate him. They love him. And yes, perhaps the war did break something inside of him as it did in all of us. But if Bibi started talking like Biden does in public, it would take one NY minute to remove him from office.
So Americans will go to the polls in November voting for two candidates who will probably never make it through the presidency. And this is supposed to help Israel feel at ease? Are we to trust this? Biden is like a breeze blowing from north to south, south to north, east to west, and west to east.
So, Israelis went to the polls. America is going to the polls.
And our hostages are still hostages.
Our people were still raped, mutilated, murdered and tortured.
Our children, fathers, mothers, family, and friends are still being killed in Gaza.
Our country is being threatened by the political mumblings of a President who cannot tie his own shoes.
I feel really safe now.
Echo 😞
It's your right to vote or not to vote.
